Secretariat
From the Secretariat
The Mexico Seminar in February 1995 which established INPIM gave rise to two entities which together enable INPIM to function. First, an ad hoc Advisory Council was established with one member from each country represented at the seminar, plus one representative from EDI. Second, EDI was designated as the Secretariat and charged with two tasks: (1) arranging for the legal incorporation of INPIM and (2) establishing a secretariat office. We are pleased to report progress on both fronts.
Legal Status
On May 23, 1995 INPIM was officially certified as a nonprofit corporation duly registered in Washington, DC, USA. The non-profit status is important for ensuring exemption from US taxes. The next step will be to draft by-laws for ratification by INPIM members.
Secretariat Office
The secretariat has five primary functions: (1) maintaining the membership roles and handling subscriptions; (2) publishing the Newsletter 3-4 times per year; (3) preparing the annual meetings; (4) promoting exchange of experts and materials among member countries; and (5) fund raising.
