Warangal District Level Farmers' Workshop

The workshop was held at Town Hall, Hanmakonda Town, Warangal District and nearly 300 participants from all over the district representing tanks and canals took part in the workshop bearing their own travel expenses. The major issues identified in the workshop are fisheries in tank systems, pollution in water bodies, Godavari lift irrigation scheme, sustainability of WUAs, etc. In general the workshop arrived at few conclusions like the number of problem are more and there is no point in making list of these unless they start acting upon resolving these issues. The participants felt that the basic requirement to air their voice to draw government attention towards WUAs problems is the network of farmers at district level. A district level farmers/WUAs network with Mr. K. Raji Reddy MA (PhD) (Farmer and representative of WUA in Nagaram village of Hasanparthi Mandal of Warangal District) as its president and 23 Executive members was formed.
