Visakhapatnam District Level Workshop

Visakhapatnam one of the coastal districts located in Eastern part of Andhra Pradesh. located in Eastern has two major irrigation projects namely Thandava reservoir and Raivada Project. The workshop was organized in Office of Superintending Engineer, Irrigation & CAD, Visakhapatnam town. About 150 farmers participated in the workshop

The major issues identified in the workshop are lack of integrated approach towards water bodies development - unviable water shed schemes in the district that obstruct inflows into existing water bodies, Sustainability of WUAs, etc. The representatives also demanded a post for WUAs reserved in MLCs that is being contemplated by the present government to enact in the State.
The workshop concluded with the formation of district level committee with Mr. Varri Venkateshwar Rao (President WUA, MB patnam, Nathavalasa mandal, Visakhapatnam)as its president along with 13 executive members.
