Nagarjuna Sagar Left Canal Workshop

As the command area of Nagarjuna Sagar Project (NSP) is about 20 lakh acres, it was felt that the workshops be organized separately for two main canals i.e. Left Canal with command area of 10.30 lakh acres and Right canal is about 10.60 lakh acres. This workshop was organized exclusively for Nagarjuna Sagar Left Canal at Kodad of Nalgonda District.

The workshop witnessed a poor turn out of participants due to Continuous crop holidays under this canal, discontinuity of WUAs, irregularity in water management and drought like situation. These factors have de-motivated farmers from participating in any public meetings in the region. Farmers in the workshop expressed that if this trend continues they would not participate in any government programmes in future. However, those participated took the decision to authorize Mr. Alla VenkataGopalakrishanRao of Hanuman Junction of Krishna District to initiate further activities in this region.
