Srikakulam District Level Workshop

Srikakulam district located in North eastern part of Andhra Pradesh has a fair representation of minor, medium and major irrigation systems. The workshop was organized at Vamshadhara Circle office, Srikakulam town. About 250 farmers and 20 officers of Irrigation and CAD participated in this workshop. The issues identified during the workshop are to speed up the process of Vamshadhara Phase II, encroachments over canals and tanks, land acquisition to excavate canal and submergence of land in neighboring State Orissa.

Farmers/representatives of WUAs were enthusiastic about forming district level committee to work as pressure group and facilitate proper implementation of PIM policy. Mr. P.V. Prabhakar Rao (President of WUA, R. Amudalavalasa village, TR Rajupeta mandal, Srikakulam district) is elected as President of Srikakulam district level committee along with 13 Executive committee members.
