1. International development consulting company seeks experienced Water Institutions Specialist to lead project in Romania. This is a long-term position (3 or 4 years), and there are short-term possibilities as well.
Qualifications:
- substantial experience in water resources management, irrigation or WUA development, with preference for candidates with experience working in some or all of the following:
- with USAID; - in Romania, other Eastern/Central European countries, or former Soviet Republics; - as a Team Leader/Chief or Party on international development projects; - in irrigation rehabilitation and/or water users associations development; - in agribusiness development.

2. IWRA - Regional Symposium on "Water for Human Survival"26-29th November 2002 at New Delhi
To focus attention on the various issues of water scarcity in the world, the Geographical Committee of IWRA (India) in association with Central Board of Irrigation and Power is organizing an International Regional Symposium on "Water for Human Survival" from 26-29th November 2002 at New Delhi.
The conference will deliberate on:
- how water for crucial purposes like drinking water and food production can be secured, highlighting innovative and more water-efficient technologies; - how threats from water pollution in various parts of the world can be minimized by restructuring the industry; - awareness and education for achieving water security; - rules and obligations that have to be linked to the "human right approach" to water provision.
The conference organizers look forward to presentations from national and international experts on their experiences so that information about the state-of-the-art technology in this discipline can be shared.

3. Sixth International Seminar on Participatory Irrigation Management
INPIM is accepting registrations for the seminar in Beijing, from October 21-26, 2001. So far, we have participants from 4 continents, so it will truly be an occasion to reflect on the advances in Participatory Irrigation Management in the past few years, and also a chance to witness how Chinese provinces are establishing Self-Financing Irrigation and Drainage Districts' (SIDDS) for sustainable water management.
