One of our members, Melvyn Kay, an irrigation training specialist based in the UK, is working with the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and FAO on a project to review training in irrigation, particularly for smallholders.

This is a worldwide review and he is seeking information from centres that undertake such training across the world. He is also looking at projects funded by multilateral and bilateral agencies and other institutions which have developed relevant training and extension programmes in irrigation for smallholders and their associations. This shall include formal training and informal training initiatives.

He will be cataloguing the information with a view to looking at ways of introducing irrigation technologies and water management methods to smallholders. It is intended to publish the information received and to give it a wide circulation. So it is opportune for those involved in training to publicise their activities.
